Lice Treatment: Your 3 Steps To Get (AND STAY) Lice Free

Lice treatment, so as to be effective, needs a 3-step approach. First, you want to treat the person who has the lice infestation ( or the person with the lice ). Secondly, you need to treat the whole family. 3rd, you want to treat the household.

STEP 1: Treat The Lice Sufferer…First and Foremost!

If you are affected by lice, you'll potentially start off by treating the lice they have with over the counter shampoos. These are most often not effective, which sadly, you will shortly find out first hand. Lice have developed a resistance to these medications. Also, these shampoos contain insecticides ( YUCK ), so be very careful to apply the shampoo in the recommended demeanour. Take care to have a look at the age restrictions for these drugs as well ( they shouldn't be used on children younger than 2 years of age ). NOTE: don't use shampoo or conditioner on the hair after the lice treatment.

Then, be certain to check the hair. If you still see head lice moving as vigorously as they had been before the medicine was applied, I am unhappy to say, it did not work! At this point, the general public visit your doctor to get a prescription lice treatment medicine to kill the lice.

Once you've gotten rid of the lice, you might need to retreat the kid after 7 days to be certain any nits that may have hatched are killed as well . Checking the hair every few days or so is a brilliant idea to keep an eye on things. NOTE: you should continue checking for roughly three weeks.

STEP 2: Treat the whole Family! Yup, it's that crucial.

Check each family member fastidiously for lice. Remember, lice are HUMAN parasites, so they can not live on pets. So yes, Fido is safe. It's not necessary to treat your pets. If any family members are found with lice, treat them in an identical manner that you treated the infested kid ( see step 1 above ).

It's also important to remember the OTC lice treatment medicines are not to be used for folk with health constraints like allergies or pregnancy. Lice are easily spread through human contact and so it is important that each relation is examined and treated with a lice treatment – we do not need any re-infestations, do we? No we don't!

STEP 3: Now it's time to Treat The HOME!

Treating the home is of equal importance as treating each relation when you're combating lice. Take all clothing and bedding which have been affected and wash them in extraordinarily hot water, at least 130 degrees! Ouch – but it is's necessary to annihilate the small suckers.

All pillows and blankets that can't be washed should be either dry cleaned or put in plastic bags and sealed tightly. These bags should remain sealed for two weeks, giving any live lice sufficient time to die. Vacuum your rugs and carpets thoroughly and frequently. It's also a great idea to vacuum any couches and chairs you'll have also.

Combating lice often feels like an endless battle. You'll get daunted and you'll get frustrated because it'll only take one louse to re-infect your house -just one pathetic louse!

Following these 3 lice-killing steps is urgent & part of any effective lice treatment. Breathe easy, your head lice nightmare can be over soon!
